What we do
Amiral Ventures is a Montreal-based venture capital firm backing Canada’s most ambitious founders at the Seed and pre-Series A stages. We lead rounds, we don’t follow. We write the first meaningful check, set the terms, and show up as true partners for the long haul.
We invest in AI-native enterprise companies building the tools that will define the next decade of productivity, sustainability, and resilience. Our thesis is called Prosperity Decoded: the belief that the greatest investment opportunity of our time lies in applying AI and software to the systemic challenges facing modern economies.
Why we exist
Canada’s startup ecosystem has never been stronger but a critical gap remains. Too many of our most promising companies reach their inflection point without a local partner willing to lead. Six in ten Canadian seed rounds include foreign investors. Our best founders head south in search of stronger capital and deeper networks.
We built Amiral to change that. Not just with capital, capital is a commodity, but with the operator expertise, the global network, and the relentless support that transforms a promising startup into a category-defining flagship.

The team
Amiral was founded by three operators who have been in the trenches: Dominic Becotte, a veteran M&A banker and the force behind Xpnd Capital; Frédéric Bastien, an entrepreneur and technologist with deep roots in the Nortel and Mnubo ecosystems; and Nectarios Economakis, a founder, investor, and ecosystem builder who led post-investment value creation at PNR before co-founding Amiral.
